Vasudeva Dwadashi

Vasudeva Dwadashi holds significant meaning for many devotees for ages now. Its prevalence was discovered in the Varaha Purana. As per, mythology Deva Rishi Narad suggested Lord Krishna's parents to observe strict fasts on this important day. Hence, only after the couple observed fasts with full dedication and pure intentions, Vasudeva and Devaki were blessed with a child in the form of Krishna. The Chaturmas Vrat also starts with Vasudeva Dwadashi celebration.

In the field of #education, there has been a misconception that, as a society, traditionally from ancient times, #women in India were not given the right to education and that it has started changing only now in India. But if we look at the details from ancient times, to medieval times to modern times, we see that the reality is quite to the contrary

Devshayani Ekadashi

Ashadha Shukla Paksha Ekadashi is known as Devshayani Ekadashi. Lord Vishnu goes to sleep on this day and wakes up after four months on Prabodhini Ekadashi.

Devshayani Ekadashi comes just after famous Jagannath Rathyatra and currently falls in month of June or July on English calendar. Chaturmas, a holy period of four months in Hindu calendar, starts from this day.

Devshayani Ekadashi is also known as Padma EkadashiAshadi Ekadashi and Hari Shayani Ekadashi.

Parana means breaking the fast. Ekadashi Parana is done after sunrise on the next day of the Ekadashi fast. It is necessary to do Parana within Dwadashi Tithi unless Dwadashi is over before sunrise. Not doing Parana within Dwadashi is similar to an offense.

Parana should not be done during Hari Vasara. One should wait for Hari Vasara to get over before breaking the fast. Hari Vasara is the first one-fourth duration of Dwadashi Tithi. The most preferred time to break the fast is Pratahkal. One should avoid breaking the fast during Madhyahna. If due to some reason one is not able to break the fast during Pratahkal then one should do it after Madhyahna.

At times Ekadashi fasting is suggested on two consecutive days. It is advised that Smartha with family should observe fasting on the first day only. The alternate Ekadashi fasting, which is the second one, is suggested for Sanyasis, widows, and for those who want Moksha. When alternate Ekadashi fasting is suggested for Smartha it coincides with Vaishnava Ekadashi fasting day.

Ekadashi fasting on both days is suggested for staunch devotees who seek for love and affection of Lord Vishnu.

Lotus Divine

 Vedic Wisdom Purana ЁЯМ▒

Lotus Divine

Lord Vishnu is often referred as Kamala_nayana or Kamala_lochana, which means Lord Vishnu’s eyes are as beautiful as Lotus flower(Kamala means lotus flower).

A Lotus flower or “Padma" , held by the lower right hand, represents spiritual liberation, Divine perfection, purity and the unfolding of Spiritual consciousness within the individual.

Vishnu is often described as the "Lotus-Eyed One" (Pundarikaksha)

The lotus in Lord Vishnu's hand is also a symbol of creation. The energy which emanates from Vishnu's navel, that is from the Para mode of speech is depicted as a lotus.

The is not derived from Vishnu alone but from the union of Vishnu and his eternal consort, Lakshmi. Vishnu is also named Padmanabhay due to the lotus (padma) which springs from His navel (nabhi), from which Lord Brahma was born.

Translation:

Playfully carrying a lotus, which represents the various opulences designated by the word bhaga, the Supreme Lord accepts service from a pair of c─Бmara fans, which are religion and fame.

Vishnu is also named as Padmanabh, due to the Lotus (Padma) which springs from the navel( Nabhi). The Lotus in Lord Vishnu's hand symbolizes that He can endow the highest spritual experience from the path of yoga( the power from His Yog nidra ).

The Lotus even though grows in the mud, it never loses its divinity and purity. The Lotus teaches us about beauty and non attachment.

One who performs his duty without attachment, surrendering the results unto the Supreme Lord, is unaffected by sinful action, as the lotus is untouched by water.

— Bhagavad Gita 5.10:

The Lotus is a symbol of creation. The energy which emanates from Vishnu’s navel, from which Lord Brahma is born, this energy of creation is not derived from Vishnu alone but from the union of Vishnu and Lakshmi. Vishnu is also named as Padmanabh, due to the Lotus (Padma) which springs from the navel( Nabhi).

The Lord's divine body parts are compared with the lotus flower. The heart of His pure devotees are also compared to the lotus flower due to their softness.
